Are You Better Off Than You Were 4 Years Ago? Of Course We Are

“Are you better off than you were four years ago?”

It’s a question that Trump and his surrogates have asked often in the media and on the 2024 campaign trail. In an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper, House Speaker Mike Johnson recently used it to deflect when Tapper questioned him about Trump’s rant on the size of Arnold Palmer’s dick (a sentence I never thought I’d type).

Rather than offer a vision for the future, the GOP game plan has been to hope enough of the electorate has memory-holed the dumpster fire that was 2020.

The stock market crashed in February 2020. In December, the jobs report found unemployment holding at November’s number of 6.7% and a loss of 140,000 jobs. COVID-19 was still ravaging the nation – assisted by then President Trump’s intentional downplaying of the severity of the virus. FEMA was sending out refrigerated trucks to stand-in as temporary morgues for the overflow of dead Americans. 77,000 Americans would die in the month of December alone. Although the first vaccine was given to a member of the public in the same month, we would later find out that the outgoing Trump administration had not even prepared a nationwide rollout plan: “The process to distribute the vaccine, particularly outside of nursing homes and hospitals out into the community as a whole, did not really exist when we came into the White House,” Biden Chief of Staff Ron Klein told Meet the Press in 2021.

Remember Biden’s 2021 heavily criticized Afghanistan troop withdrawal? Guess who originally made that deal?

In February 2020, Trump made a deal with the Taliban for the withdrawal of U.S. forces in Afghanistan. He did not include the Afghanistan government in the talks. The agreement released 5,000 Taliban fighters from prison while reducing the number of U.S. troops prior to withdrawal. For a man who “wrote” a book called The Art of the Deal, this seems like a textbook bad one.

Before COVID-19 hit, Trump was already beefing up the nation’s debt with the passing of his 2017 tax cuts (featuring such provisions as dropping the corporate tax rate from 35% to 21% – his current plan proposes dropping it to 15%). His administration would ultimately saddle the nation with nearly $8 trillion in new debt.

Are we better off overall than we were four years ago? The answer is a resounding “Fuck yes.”

Our current unemployment is 4.1%. The Dow and S&P have been hitting record highs throughout the last year. Inflation has dropped to 2.4%.

Anyone that hasn’t been hit with a neuralyzer, remembers that Trump’s four years in office were a nightmare. He couldn’t even commit to the peaceful transfer of power. Trump’s term would end with a violent insurrection that he incited against the Capitol to stop the certification of the election in his final attempt (of many) to overthrow democracy and remain in office. He left then Vice President Mike Pence to die at the hands of the rioting mob. Although Pence survived the January 6th attack, Trump would launch his third campaign with a very large job opening (current VP pick JD Vance has said he would have refused to certify the 2020 election – you can tell this guy always gets Reek when he answers Buzzfeed’s “which Game of Thrones character are you?”). Trump’s next four years could be far worse.

While our legacy media’s newsrooms were attempting to out circle jerk each other over stories covering Biden’s age, actress Taraji P. Henson used her platform as host of the BET Awards to sound the alarm on Project 2025 – the subject instantly began trending online.

Written by former Trump officials, the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025 outlines how a second Trump term would reshape America.

The blueprint calls for the reinstatement of Schedule F. Originally an Executive Order late in the first Trump administration and rescinded by Biden, it would remove nonpartisan career government officials and replace them with loyalists.

Page 82 of Project 2025: “His [Trump’s] early Office of Presidential Personnel (PPO) did not generally remove political appointees from the previous Administration but instead relied mostly on prior political appointees and career civil servants to run the government. Such a reliance on holdovers and bureaucrats led to a lack of agency control and the absolute refusal of the Acting Attorney General from the Obama Administration to obey a direct order from the President.”

Are you wondering what the “direct order” was? It’s Sally Yates’ refusal as Acting Attorney General to defend the original Muslim ban.

Don’t want a government whistleblower to call out your quid pro quo when you withhold congressionally-approved military aid to Ukraine in trade for dirt on your political opponent? That’s why you enact Schedule F.

Since 2023, the Trump team has been interviewing applicants to replace current government workers after Schedule F is reinstated. Trump’s allies know this dance. In 2020, John McEntee, former director of the White House Presidential Office, oversaw one-on-one interviews with government employees, testing their loyalty to Donald Trump. McEntee is the senior advisor to Project 2025.

McEntee went viral earlier this year in a clip where he confessed to giving homeless people counterfeit money in hopes that it would get them arrested and taken off the streets when they used it.

McEntee sounds more like someone that should be taunting the Goonies or lifting lunch tables alongside William Zabka in Just One of the Guys than a government official.

The issue that continues to reverberate throughout America and will have the biggest impact on the 2024 election is the 2022 overturning of Roe v. Wade.

“After 50 years of failure, with nobody coming even close, I was able to kill Roe v. Wade. much to the ‘shock’ of everyone,” Trump posted on his Truth Social site in 2023.

The very real horror of stolen autonomy has struck women and their families across the nation. As doctors in states that have banned abortion fear losing their license or spending life in prison for assisting in the procedure, women are dying in hospitals or in the case of Nancy Davis, are told to carry a fetus without a skull to term (Davis’ home state of Louisiana banned abortion in 2022). Davis told journalists “Basically, they said I had to carry my baby to bury my baby.”

Overturning Roe was just the beginning. Project 2025 hasn’t forgotten America’s women.

Trump’s second term blueprint calls for creating a “pro-life task force” and changing the name of the Department of Health and Human Services to the Department of Life. It gets worse.

States voluntarily submit abortion data to the Centers for Disease Control. However, the Department of Life would make reporting abortions mandatory because “liberal states have now become sanctuaries for abortion tourism.” Yes, Project 2025 reads like it was written by a guy who posts brain-worm drivel on Kamala Harris’ Facebook page.

Among the requirements under this abortion surveillance program, the Department of Life wants to know why the abortion was done and the “mother’s state of residence.” If these obligations are not fulfilled, the government can pull funding from the state.

Project 2025 calls for restoring Trump’s “religious and moral exemptions to the contraceptive mandate [under the ACA]”. It also rescinds FDA approval of the abortion drug, mifepristone.

Now that Project 2025 has established women as baby-making vessels, it advises the Trump administration how to “restore the family” and “protect our children” (Spoiler: it has nothing to do with gun safety): “The next conservative President must make the institutions of American civil society hard targets for woke culture warriors. This starts with deleting the terms sexual orientation and gender identity (“SOGI”), diversity, equity, and inclusion (“DEI”), gender, gender equality, gender equity, gender awareness, gender-sensitive, abortion, reproductive health, reproductive rights… out of every federal rule, agency regulation, contract, grant, regulation, and piece of legislation that exists.”

Donald Trump is not an ideologue – but he will surround himself with those who are if it keeps him in power.

If given the opportunity, he will implement Project 2025.

Want some good news? We fucking got this.

For decades, the GOP attempted to end abortion protections in this nation. After the Supreme Court overturned Roe, GOP state officials spent the last two years enacting draconian laws against women. Resulting in pain, death and serving as a constant reminder that this political party stripped away control of their own bodies. The GOP was the dog that caught the car – it’s now switching gears into reverse.

If you’re a conservative, concerned about your significant other or family members discovering you’re voting for Harris – only YOU will know who you voted for.

Voted for Trump in 2016 or 2020? Come on over and join us. I’m saving a seat for you.

Let’s go end the political career of a fascist, adjudicated rapist and win this election for democracy and choice.
