The Mueller Report: Obstruction of Justice

After Attorney General Jeff Sessions notified the President that Robert Mueller had been appointed as Special Counsel, Trump responded in pearl-clutching fashion: “Oh my God. This is terrible. This is the end of my Presidency. I’m fucked.” I’m certain there is another timeline where Trump is only President in a Tommy Wiseau movie.

After reading The Mueller Report, I was convinced of two things: 1) as President, Donald Trump committed multiple acts of obstruction of justice and 2) that Congress should open an impeachment inquiry.

The Mueller Report: Russia’s Online Interference Campaign

With anticipation typically reserved for a new Harry Potter book, special counsel Robert Mueller submitted his 448 page report into Russian interference in the 2016 election to the Department of Justice in March. Separated into two volumes, the report is breathtaking in its detail and a surprisingly fast read.

Volume one addresses the issue of Russian interference and potential collaboration by members of the Trump campaign. Volume two focuses on acts of obstruction of justice that may have been committed by President Trump during the investigation (narrator: he did). In this entry, I’m going to focus specifically on Russia’s online interference campaign.

Two Weeks Notice

How bad have the last two weeks been for the Trump administration? Even if zero evidence of collusion is found between Donald Trump and Russia regarding the 2016 election, he could still find himself between a rock and a hard place. Or as one senior official told The Daily Beast: “I don’t see how Trump isn’t completely fucked.”
