Last Thursday’s tenth GOP presidential debate felt like a WWE SummerSlam event. By the halfway point, I wouldn’t have been surprised if Donald Trump had walked off stage and tagged Chris Christie to come out and slam a folding chair against Marco Rubio.
This November, all eyes will be focused on the Senate. The Republicans only need to win six seats to take control from the Democratic majority, one of which happens to be in my beautiful home state of Iowa. Unfortunately, the Iowa race also features one of the nation’s most insane candidates: Republican Joni Ernst.
Watching the Republicans deflect blame to the Democrats for last week’s government shutdown is like listening to Leatherface claim to be a humanitarian.
While media outlets were competing as to whom could publish the wittiest version of “Weiner must pull out,” Mother Nature brought the citizens of Earth their tab. The bill comes to $60 trillion.
The GOP has been consistently blocking nearly all potential job growth legislation from the Obama administration. The most damaging block was the American Jobs Act, which, as we pointed out in the entry The One About the Pipeline, would have provided more jobs to the state of Iowa alone than the Keystone pipeline could provide for the nation.
