The Monster Squad

Earlier this year, Republican strategist Steve Schmidt referred to the CPAC convention as “the Star Wars bar scene of the conservative movement.” If CPAC is the Star Wars cantina, this weekend’s Values Voter Summit may just be the Death Star.

Wayne’s World

Earlier this month the NRA held their annual conference.  With the defeat of new background check legislation in the rearview mirror, what new solutions did the NRA offer to the American people?

My Right Foot

Before originally moving to the West coast, I worked for years as a Vocational Instructor to people with disabilities.  To this day it has been one of the most rewarding professional experiences I have ever had.  One of my first jobs upon arriving in California was as a Community Advocate for people with disabilities.  So, you can imagine my reaction at the news that the Senate Republicans blocked the ratification of a U.N. treaty regarding the rights of the disabled.

In March, Republicans in the New Hampshire House of Representatives passed a bill requiring doctors to tell women that abortion causes breast cancer. Of course, this is simply not true.

Culture Wars – Episode 1 The Conservative Menace

There is a war on religion occurring that is led by the Obama administration.  Well, that’s what Rick Santorum, Newt Gingrich and followers of the modern-day Republican Party believe.  The only problem is, I don’t see it.  Instead, I find myself witnessing a party and its representatives committing an unprecedented attack on women’s rights and health care.
