On Thursday, President Obama announced a Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) framework had been agreed upon in preventing Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon. The President anticipated the inevitable critics, listing the three possible choices the U.S. could now make.

The Patriot
As the latest GOP-manufactured crisis continues on without a resolution, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz has already set his sights on his next target to use against the American government… the looming debt ceiling
In the Mouth of Madness
Pop quiz, hotshot! What’s more damaging but just as ineffective as voting to repeal Obamacare 40 times?
The Town
Iowa Republican Senator Chuck Grassley seemingly dislikes any form of amnesty for illegal immigrants as much as Indiana Jones hates snakes. This may explain why the Senator chose to link the Boston Marathon bombings with the latest immigration reform legislation last Friday.
The Way of the Gun
How much would it cost for you to ignore the deaths of 20 children? For Senator Ted Cruz, it’s $10,150.00. Comparatively, Utah Senator Mike Lee is a bargain at $2,500.00. These are the amounts both men have most recently received from the National Rifle Association. The two men, along with Kentucky Senator Rand Paul, sent a letter last month threatening to block any gun control legislation that they feel may threaten the Second Amendment. However, none of the proposals discussed prohibit a sane, law-abiding citizen’s right to bear arms.
Speed 2: Cruz Control
Texas Senator Ted Cruz recently made headlines this week when he sparred with fellow Senator Dianne Fienstein over her assault weapons ban legislation.
Cruz questioned the constitutionality of the bill, completely unaware of the court cases that have established such a ban as clearly within the safety parameters of the Constitution.
Waterworld
It’s disappointing that Marco Rubio’s water bottle grab is the most memorable moment from his GOP response to the President’s State of the Union Address, because his rebuttal was an excellent showcase of how out of touch with reality the Republican Party still is.
The Crazies
When speaking with MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell, journalist and gun owner Tom Brokaw agreed with retired Army Gen. Stan McChrystal that “assault weapons do not belong in a civil society.” Brokaw added: “The response to that was, ‘I have to keep my weapon because the government is going to come and try to take it away from me and I have to be able to fight back when that happens.’ That’s the most far-reaching thing you can possibly imagine.”
It’s easy to see why gun owners like Brokaw are overshadowed in the national debate when you have such circus acts as Alex Jones and James Yeager taking center stage.
Three Days of the Condor
The confetti has fallen, the last patriotic song has played, the candidates have left the stage and that ends the 2012 Republican National Convention. This was a potential major turning point for GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney as he reintroduced himself into the public spotlight. But before we discuss if that worked or not, join us for a crash course through the convention’s first two nights.
Derka Derbs
Last week, President Obama announced a new immigration policy that will benefit thousands of people. The policy allows illegal immigrants to file for a two-year deferral from deportation, with the possibility of renewal. The criteria for eligibility are:

- Have lived in the United States for five continuous years
- Individuals who do not have a criminal record
- Individuals who are successful students (High School Diploma or GED) or served in the military
Those that meet the requirements are also eligible to apply for work permits.
